Representative Grants

The Foundation seeks entities that share foundation objectives and provides these entities sustainable funding to achieve these shared objectives over time. Among these relationships are the following:

  1. Balboa Park Cultural Partnership. This organization was created to bring together the cultural organizations in Balboa Park to share expertise, develop economies of shared relationships and to effectively represent the institutions as a group. The Foundation has been a financial supporter of the partnership since it was created.
  2. Center for Ethics in Science and Technology. This organization presents programs in various media to educate the public concerning the ethical issues in scientific development. The Center is a joint project of the University of San Diego, University of California at San Diego and San Diego State University. The Foundation was among the organizers of the effort and has funded the Center since it was created.
  3. Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation. The Jacobs Center manages a community capacity development project in the Diamond Neighborhoods of San Diego. The Foundation has been a partner in this project for many years. In addition to funding community projects that have not yet organized into charitable organizations through the Center, the Foundation has supported organized community charities in the Diamond Neighborhoods including The Elementary Institute of Science and Second Chance.
  4. University of California at San Diego. The Foundation has created an innovation grant at Cal IT2 at the University. The grant is to encourage creative, innovative collaboration between CalIT2 and others in the community. The grant has supported projects with the museums in Balboa Park and with the Diamond Neighborhoods in San Diego. The Foundation has also provided ongoing support to the environmental initiatives at the University.
  5. Balboa Park Institutions. The Foundation provides ongoing support to numerous cultural organizations in Balboa Park including Zoological Society of San Diego, Old Globe Theatre,  Fleet Science Center,  San Diego Natural History Museum,  San Diego Historical Society, Mengei International, Japanese Friendship Garden, Museum of Man and Timken Museum of Art.
  6. Science Organizations. The Foundation provides ongoing support to the San Diego Business Education Foundation (CONNECT)springboard program to work with potential developers of organizations to market and promote scientific projects researched and developed in the San Diego Science community. /li>
